Liposuction

Body Contouring & Shaping The La Sante Liposuction treatment is a procedure which is used to remove moderate amounts of superficial fat from the body. The main function of Liposuction treatment is to contour and shape the body, leaving the skin smooth and refined.

Liposuction can be used across many areas of the body including the abdomen, thighs, calves, buttocks, gynecomastia, chin and knees

Process

Before the treatment, we recommend meeting with Dr Soliman to discuss your body concerns and overall goals from the treatment. We will administer a treatment plan tailored specifically for you.

For your own comfort, you will be anesthetised under local anaesthesia. It is important to remember that this treatment is a day-time procedure so general anaesthesia will not be used.

Firstly, the area being treated will be injected with a variety of medications which help to reduce the bleeding, and numb any pain or discomfort you may feel.

In the procedure, Dr Soliman will take a micro-cannula tube shaped like a metal straw, and insert the tube into small incisions. The tube is pulled in and out of the body, breaking down superficial fat deposits. This will help not only in removing unwanted pockets of fat, but it will also help sculpt and contour the body.

Preparation

In preparation for this treatment, we advise that if you have existing cellulite or other skin irregularities before the Liposuction procedure, your skin texture will not improve by having Liposuction. Liposuction is a surgical procedure which comes with its risks, therefore, it is important to be in good health prior to the procedure. This means you must be within 30% of your ideal weight, have firm, elastic skin and do not smoke. You may be given medicine to take before the surgery, such as antibiotics. Please arrange with a designated driver to pick you up from the clinic after the treatment.

Aftercare

Following the treatment, Dr Soliman will give you specific instructions on post-operative care. These instructions may include:

  • The importance of wearing the correct compression garment and clothing after the treatment. This should be worn day and night for 2 weeks after treatment. It can be removed during showers.
  • Tight clothing should not be worn for a month after the treatment. This will leave a demarcation line when the treated skin redrapes itself.
  • Regularly massaging the area gently will help to ensure a smoother result.
  • Preparing a “recovery area” at home, which may include pillows, ice packs, a thermometer and a telephone within easy reach will make recovery easier.

Following the surgery, dressings or bandages may be applied to your incisions. You may be wrapped in a compression garment to minimise swelling and to support the operation site as it heals. Please avoid heavy lifting, strenuous exercise, swimming and strenuous sports until advised by Dr Soliman.
If you experience any of the following symptoms, please notify our staff immediately:

  • Temperature higher than 38°C or chills.
  • Heavy bleeding from the incisions.
  • Worsening redness around the incision sites.
  • Increasing pain, tenderness, or other problems that appear to be worsening.

Does it hurt?

Some clients may experience some discomfort during the procedure, however it is performed under anesthesia to reduce the pain.

Is there down time?

It is recommended to rest for about 3 days after the procedure as the treated area may feel sore. During this time, excess fluid will continue to be drained from the entry points.

How long does the treatment take?

Depending on the size of the area it can take 60-90 minutes.

How soon after the treatment can I expect to see the results?

The results will show after 6 weeks, during this time excess fluid that was used during the procedure will be removed from the body.

How long with the results last?

During the procedure the fat cells are removed from the area, this giving a permanent reduction in the treated area. The client is then required to maintain the results with a healthy diet and exercise.

What should I expect pre and post treatment?

Pre treatment it is recommended to cease fish oil, aspirin and other blood thinning medication upto recommendation of our doctor. Also avoiding alcohol for 48 hours before the procedure.

Post treatment you can expect to wear a compression garment for 6 weeks. You will also have weekly visits to the clinic to have an hour session on the compression garment which helps remove excess fluid in the treated area via the body’s lymphatic drainage system. The area may feel tender for a few weeks post treatment which is to be expected, and will resolve on its own.
